Getting to know your Local Farmers and Food System

Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 06:30 PM · 4 rsvps

Why buy local and sustainable?  There are several reason, but lets highlight a few...

  • Sustainable, organic agriculture produces food that does not harm the environment.
  • Promotes animal welfare, public health, and personal health.
  • Saves family farms, supports and protects rural communities.
  • Empowers and protects farm workers.
  • Food tastes better!

We would like to highlight a couple of the farmers and a local organic business working hard to promote local, organic, and the growth of our local food movement.

Please join us as we talk with Tom from Good News Farm. Good News Farm is a state-of-the-art certified organic farm using veganic-organic growing methods. We have a one acre computer-controlled greenhouse, one and a quarter acres of high tunnels, and acres of fields.

Sheri from Nourish Organic Market will join us and share some of the issues she faces stocking her store with organic and non-gmo foods and meats.

We will have one more farmer coming in to discuss his farm, TBA.
